We love visitors...and we can talk about farming 'till the cows come home
If you'd like to visit, shoot us an email or give a call to find a time that works for you and for us.
We worked as farm educators for two years in Maine, and we've continued that in a small way here at Nightfall. We're full time farmers, but we're honored when a group wants to learn about what we're doing. Here are the basic options we've offered in the last four years:
Farm Field Trips and Tours
We've led families, individuals, homeschool groups, college classes, and community groups on tours of our farm.
Usually, we take a ~1.5 hour walking tour of the pastures to visit with each animal group and learn about rotational grazing, soil health, and ethical meat.
Some groups also want an activity, which is swell. Options include work projects on the farm (like 45 minutes of planting trees and cutting invasive species) and play-based learning (including an activity exploring where the items we use every day really come from...hint: many come from farms!).
If you're bringing a group of 5 or more, we ask for a $5/person or $50 minimum fee to cover our time away from regular farm work.
Contact us to find a time to visit.
Present to Your Class or Group
We've presented to college classes throughout southern and central Indiana. The courses have ranged from geology to philosophy classes, and we've covered everything from soil health on sustainable farms to the ethics of eating meat. We've also presented at Soil and Water Conservation District meetings, local libraries, health fairs, and beyond. We really enjoy these opportunities.
Typically, these groups offer to compensate us financially, which helps us cover mileage and time away from the farm.
Contact us to schedule a presentation for your organization.
Other Ideas?
We're open to other options, too. Let us know what you have in mind!
