Our Neighbors
Folks here in southern Indiana are doing all sorts of neat things. Here are a few highlights we find especially interesting:
Looking for More Tasty, Local Food?
Wild Pansy Farm - We are so proud to have Ann and Sean growing veggies here at Nightfall. They are raising veggies and helping us bring this farm back to life...and it all tastes so good! Check out Wild Pansy Farm's CSA and other options for sustainable, delicious veggies.
August Rising Acres - Looking for great veggies? August Rising Acres grows incredible vegetables. We met Amanda because we both sell at the Columbus Brown Street Market, and because we're both supporters of the Columbus Food Co-op. We realized we have lots in common: a focus on healthy soil, delicious food, and strong communities.
Good Seed Garden - She's got the goods! Check out Good Seed Garden's veggie CSA, or just stop by Lorraine's booth at the Columbus Farmer's Market. Yum!
Plumer & Bowers Farmstead - We've gotten to know Dennis and Tricia through the Seymour Farmer's Market, and their story resonates with us. They, too, have returned home to the family farm and are in the process of converting from conventional row crops to pasture. If you're looking for grass-fed beef or locally grown and ground whole wheat flour, look no farther than their family farm.
Upland Pumphouse - Go our for a local brew AND local food. We've been selling whole chickens to Upland since Spring 2017, and it's a high value partnership: they're spreading the good word that local matters to your taste buds and your community, we're selling our food, and customers are eating fantastic dishes (have you tried the Nightfall Fried Chicken?).
Want to Take Care of Your Mind and Body?
Is it time for some Yoga - Our friends at Uptown Yoga in Columbus and Yoga in Madison offer affordable classes, beautiful spaces (!), and high quality instructors. Eat good food and then engage your body with yoga!
Eco-Massage - Farmers use their bodies, so we need serious massages. If you need one, too (and you're in the Madison area), we recommend Eco-Massage!
Village Lights Bookstore - We read constantly - on breaks, on the porch, in bed. Village Lights in Madison is our go-to for books. They can get you just about anything (speaking from experience!) and they're always game to talk books. We love their store.
Want to Learn More About Agriculture?
Hoosier Young Farmers Coalition - If you're a young farmer or ally, join this group! These are young and beginning sustainable farmers in Indiana looking to connect, collaborate and interact with one another. Farming is tough work, especially in the beginning years, and we provide a community of like minded and similarly engaged peers to help ensure young and beginning farmers find success in Indiana, and have some fun along the way!
Edible Indy - A fantastic quarterly reporting on food in the Indy area (but really, all around Indiana). It's free. Check it out here.
